The worst thing about autumn? The decreasing amount of sunlight.
I suck at the dark mornings and dark evenings. It never feels like I see the sun – leaving the house before 8 and getting home at 16:30. It really affects my mental and physical health, so this year I’m on a mission to make winter a bit more bearable!
Make the most of the daytime
I’m awful for staying indoors with a cup of tea and a book. So I’m going to be making the most of my lunch breaks and weekends by going for walks, having lunch outside/near a window (especially if it’s raining!) and making sure that I get at least half an hour in the daylight each day. I’m not being strict yet, as it’s not going dark until 19:30ish at the moment, but I will be going out and about as much as possible come November!
Exercise is great for my mental and physical health, so I’m going to be making a much more concerted effort to getting exercise in my daily routine. One of my goals is to complete a Couch to 5k!
I’m also going to be cutting refined sugar from diet. I’ve done it before and I felt incredible so I can’t wait! It’s so easy to reach for something sugary to get me through day, especially in the office, so it’s going to be tough to cut it out, but I know it’ll be the best thing for me!
Splashing the cash
I’ve always been interested in Lightbox Therapy and I’ve read about people’s transformational experiences by buying one, so I’m going to take the plunge next payday and buy one!
Some are super expensive (I’m talking like £150+) but I’m going to go for this one from SAD.co.uk at £39.95. If it works, I might upgrade!
